My History

I, Kati Evans, have traveled from Turia to Fina and have returned to my Home Stone after many years away. Here is my story.

Today I came across a scroll with Yoda's history written on it. It was fascinating to read about my friend/teacher and all that he had gone through. Which made me think that my story should be written down as well. So here is mine ... (a work in progress)

I, Kati Evans, was born to an Ubar, a great and noble man. It was among the walls of his city that I spent my early years growing up among guards who protected me, servants who took care of me, and teachers who taught me the ways of the blue caste. Those early years were happy years; though I have no recollection of my mother, who in later years I was told that she was of the blue caste who had gone to dust when I was very young. That is all I know of my mother, Father does not like to talk about her. You can see the pain in his eyes when I ask about her, so I long ago ceased. There was a great upheaval in the land. War came to the city. So when I had yet to reach my full height Father sent off to continue my training in the best school in the land far from my home. There life was all about scrolls and learning, there was little time for anything else. The days were very disciplined and structured life with not much else happening. I could go on about the classes and such, but it is best to let those fade into the dust of time.

From school, I was sent to the scribes in Fina where my brother, Kama Seminario lived, and he became my guardian (January 2010). My brother companioned, and they had a lovely little girl. When his companion and baby girl were killed in a raid, my bother grief-stricken he left Fina. Sometime later a man came to Fina with some of his belongings looking for me. He told me he was asked to bring them to me by my brother and that before he left on the journey ... and that he had gone to dust.

While there in Fina, I worked for the Chief Scribe until the High Magistrate noticed me and quickly elevated me to the position of magistrate there (June 23, 2010).  It was noticed that I have been blessed by the Priest Kings with high curiosity and an uncanny ability to walk into the middle of people fighting, ...once or twice with swords drawn, and to talk them down to a more reasonable way of solving their disagreement.

For a short season, I was the High Magistrate's companion. Then when he was lost in a raid, I found myself serving as High Magistrate (July 31, 2010), sitting in judgment for a number of cases therein Fina working 50+ hours a week (while holding a full-time job in real).

One day Father, Ubar of Rarn, came to Fina to see how I was because word got to him of my brother passing (July 2011). Then upon his arrival, the Ubar of Fina would not even acknowledge his presence; which made my father so mad that he left the city within the hour with me in tow. Upon arriving in Rarn he placed me in the position of High Magistrate (September 2011) and I picked up the duties I had performed for Fina on a bit slower pace (25+ hours per week). Once during my time there, a dear man did ask to court me; however, the city was attacked and fell in the month-long battle. Few of us were lucky enough to escape with our lives. Rarn, however, was not so lucky becoming nothing more than rubble. Now I found myself without the Home Stone I swore or a family. Did they survive? I did not know. I wondered for a time from city to city (1), providing service where I could and traveling with caravans to new cities when I could find safe passage.

Eventually, this brought me to Abydos (January 2014) and I was once again my work as the magistrate was recognized and I became their Chief Magistrate. Here I found a place of rest and happiness I had not known in some years. I lived in a free woman's house with others and was rarely alone or lonesome. It was here to my great joy this is where “Father” found me (February 2014) and then later adopted me. That is when I became Kati Beattie.

One companion of my father said of me, "Of the Blue Caste... a talented Magistrate. Don't let her quiet and shy demeanor fool ya. She's well spoken, well versed and loved by her father and I."; She was right, being a magistrate runs in my blood, to stop breathing would be as easy then to stop being a magistrate. The man I call Father, was the retired scarlet commander, former Ubar, and captain. He had acquired two merchant houses and was a merchant of great wealth. Along with his companion, they ran the now combined merchant houses together with the family and others. ...His dear companion is such a sweet lady who I called "mother";. Father moved us to various cities and depending on the cities needs I worked in the position of magistrate or high magistrate for the city. (1)

Back then, you could find the family within the city walls of Turia running the merchant house, where the itch in my blood was to strong that I became a magistrate once again as well. The merchant house caters to free, healers, mercenaries, and outlaws alike. Looking for spices and herbs, that special barrel or wine, or seeking some other specialty item, come see us and it will be found for you. Father had what you were seeking. But time has a way of changing things and life moves on, not always in the way you would wish.

Father has gone the way of dust and I found myself alone and traveling once more. From town to town never finding rooks always heading north toward the Home Stone and town I had loved. Along the way I went back to my original name for they did not know of the Beattie family in the north but some might remember Evans. So after wearing out a couple of pairs of shoes and odd jobs along the way I finally crossed into the gates of Fina. I find that I am at home once again. Only the passing of the hands will tell where life will take me now.

Take it all With a Grain of Salt…
Over the more than six years as Magistrate in various places including Fina, Rarn, Abydos, Telnus, Whitewater, and Rorus to name a few; I have gathered many notes, and these are only my notes and writings for which I claim nothing more. Many of the links go to other scrolls I have written as well. (Search for Magistrate Kati and I am sure you will find some of my scrolls. Here is the location of one https://magistratekati.blogspot.com/) Reading my scrolls will tell you more about me than I could ever write here.

If you are reading from one of the scrolls - I recommend that you check the accuracy of the information against the books which John Norman wrote telling of the life on Gor for yourself. You can find all of them at audible.com to enjoy listening to. Through reading or listening to all the books you will then be able to decide for yourself if my various notes are accurate and true to the intent of the author and his world of Gor. Safe paths filled with exciting times of reading these scrolls and the adventures found in them.
